Elon Musk confirmed in an X post that a sudden jump in Grok Bot usage limits was not a glitch. Some users reported on X that their weekly usage rose from as low as 50% to 100% over the Halloween weekend, even without active use overnight.
In a reply to a user, Musk wrote: "The cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue." He has not addressed the issue on his main feed. He has not yet said how subscribers' usage limits will change going forward.
The source reports that SpaceX said in a filing last month that AI makes up 52% of company income. It also reports that the renamed "Super Intelligence" division posted a profit of $431 million, and that this profit would have been higher without $1.2 billion in one-time costs tied to the acquisition of Cursor.
