Motorola will sell its new Signature 27 smartphone for $1,600 when it arrives later this month, according to Ars Technica. The device is Motorola's first non-folding flagship in the US lineup. The report says the phone is priced above high-end flagships from Samsung and Apple and within $300 of foldable phones such as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Motorola's Razr Fold, both listed at $1,900.

The Signature 27 will include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage. The memory cannot be upgraded. The rear has three 50MP and 200MP sensors, along with an event-based vision sensor that powers a feature called Action Shot. The report says the phone has a 6.8-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola claims a peak brightness of 12,000 nits, and a 7,000 mAh battery that supports 90W charging. Motorola estimates two days of battery life per charge.

The phone will ship with Android 17 and Motorola's Hello UI. Motorola promises seven years of OS updates. Google's Gemini Intelligence features, including agentic app control and Create My Widget, will arrive "in the coming months," according to the report. The report says most of those features are still limited to Pixel phones.

Motorola will not preload GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused Android-based operating system, on the Signature 27. Buyers will need to install it themselves. The report says Motorola plans to share details on that process later.

Preorders begin November 19, and the phone goes on sale November 26. Buyers can purchase it from Motorola, Best Buy or Amazon. Motorola has not announced any carrier partnerships.
