Apple has removed the waitlist for Siri AI, its generative AI virtual assistant, on iOS 27. Users who enable Siri AI on a compatible device now begin downloading it right away, according to ZDNET.
Apple could temporarily reinstate the waitlist if demand is unusually high, the report says.
Compatible devices include iPhone 15 Pro or newer, iPad with an A17 Pro or newer chip or an M-series chip, Mac with a MacBook Neo or M-series chip, Apple Watch Series 9 or Ultra 2 or newer, and Apple Vision Pro. Users also need a supported language (English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, or Spanish) and a supported region. The report says Siri AI is not available in mainland China or, for iOS, iPadOS, and WatchOS, in the European Union.
According to the report, Siri AI can answer complex questions, understand more natural phrasing, and keep context across conversations and Apple devices. ZDNET's Lance Whitney says he has used its onscreen awareness feature to get directions, explain on-screen content, and add items from the screen to a list, and that he has edited photos by describing the changes he wants.
